Illinois Cities

Located in the midwestern United States, Illinois is a state that borders the states of Indiana to the east and Mississippi River to the west. Champaign: This smaller city is home to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus and Parkland College, a public institution with an enrollment of 18,000 students. It’s a hub of the Illinois Silicon Prairie and is home to many tech startups and Fortune 500 companies. Champaign’s Champaign Research Park serves as the center of the city’s technology and software industry. Among its cultural attractions are the Krannert Art Museum, the Orpheum Children’s Science Museum, and Hassel Park.

Despite Illinois’ large population, there are only a few major cities in the state. The five largest are Chicago (population: 2,696,555), Aurora (179,266), and Springfield. Several cities in Illinois are home to Fortune 500 companies. For tourists traveling to the state, it’s best to call ahead of time to make sure that attractions are open and operating properly. The third largest suburb of Chicago, Joliet is one of the most important and popular cities in the state. It was once known as Prison City, but is now home to some of the largest and best-known attractions in Illinois. One of the most well-known attractions in the city is the Rialto Square Theatre, one of the most beautiful theaters in the world. Joliet is also home to the Hollywood Casino and Hotel.
