This trend has been fueled by the growing number of cars on the road. Moreover, the advent of automobile technology has enabled the advancement of technologies that improve the efficiency of vehicle operations. Introduction to electrical and electronic systems used in automobiles
Throughout the years, the electronics used in cars have become more complex. In fact, the automotive industry is estimated to have about a third of its total cost in electronics. Automotive electronics include in-car infotainment systems, radios, telematics, and in-engine electronics. Automotive electronics are gaining popularity as they improve safety, fuel efficiency, and driver comfort.
Automotive electrical systems are used to power all electrical devices in a vehicle. When the engine is running, the alternator charges the battery. This power is then distributed to electrical devices. The alternator also regulates the amount of power that electrical devices receive. The alternator is designed to provide a higher output when the engine is running, and a lower output when the engine is not running.
The alternator is also used to charge the battery when the car is not running. The car’s battery is connected to the earth terminal by a thick cable.
In addition to charging the battery, the alternator is also used to provide electrical power to the electrical devices. In a modern car, the alternator is a 12 volt system. This voltage is lower when the engine is not running, so the current flowing through the battery is reduced.
